It’s a matter of power and equality

People need people. That’s the fact of the matter. When you find yourself in a mental crisis, you need safety, comforting, and support. Modern psychiatrization exists in opposition to this fundamental principle. It distances the professional caregiver from the distressed individual. We wish to remedy this harm.

Reframing Mental Distress

Distress, pain, and trauma are neither pathology nor deficits. They are reactions. Reactions that are to be understood, embraced, cared for and, if need be, changed through compassionate work.

Centering the person

A professionalism-centered approach assumes the primacy-of-the-expertise. This is wrong. We need approaches that center the person in need of our help and care.

Recognizing our communal spirit

We cannot exist in isolation. Any and all efforts to help distressed individuals must heed basic human needs for communion, healing, growth, and learning.

Looking for something new?

Then this is place for you. We’re gathering nonpathologizing, person-centered, and community-oriented ressources right here for inspiration, guidance and help.

Activism that matters

Is fundamental change even possible? Wouldn’t it be better to improve what we have rather than building something new? Yes, no. We believe that a fundamental break with the current psychiatric paradigm is paramount to the mission of rehumanizing society and culture. But how do we do it? Read on below!

Activism: Linguistic rebellion

Powerful phrases and new language helps shape the resistance that can foster a new paradigm.
